TheNyima languages are a pair of languages ofSudan spoken by theNyimang of theNuba Mountains. They appear to be most closely related to theEastern Sudanic languages, especially the northern group ofNubian,Nara andTama.

The languages are:

  • Ama (Nyimang) — 160,000 speakers[1]
  • Dinik (Afitti) — 4,000 speakers (2009)[2]

Claude Rilly (2010)[3] includes reconstructions for Proto-Nyima.
