At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 289 in 55 households, when it was inDonbaleh Rud-e Shomali Rural District[b] ofDehdez District,[c]Izeh County.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 334 people in 66 households.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 277 people in 65 households.[2]
In 2021, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Dezpart County and renamed theCentral District. The rural district was separated from the district in the formation of Qarun District. The villages ofBozorg Shivand andPosht Asiab merged with Nowshivand, which was transferred toShivand Rural District created in the new district.[4]
