November 1812 Virginia gubernatorial election

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It isproposed that this article be deleted because of the following concern:

There was not a Virginia gubernatorial election held in November 1812. A special election was held on January 3, 1812, for the unexpired term ofGeorge William Smith (politician); subsequently, the regularly-scheduled election for the 1812–13 term was held on December 5, 1812. (See the records of the Virginia House of Delegates cited at1812 Virginia gubernatorial special election and1812 Virginia gubernatorial election for sources.) Consistent naming practices would dictate these articles be named as above, rather than "January 1812" and "December 1812" Virginia gubernatorial election(s). In no case should there be an article called "November 1812 Virginia gubernatorial election," since no such election ever took place. (proposed byNathaniel Greene)
