Northwest Georgia is a region of the state ofGeorgia in the United States.[1] It includes 12 counties (listed in the section below), which at the2010 census had a combined population of 753,032. Northwest Georgia includes some of the southernmost portions of theAppalachian Mountains, as opposed toNortheast Georgia, which holds the southernmostBlue Ridge, known locally as theNorth Georgia Mountains.[2]
Bartow, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties are located on the outer northern fringe of theAtlanta metropolitan area, while the other counties are part of theChattanooga, Tennesseemetropolitan area. Much of the region is included inGeorgia's 14th congressional district and is represented byMarjorie Taylor Greene.
