North San Pedro is a neighborhood ofSan Jose, California, located in northernDowntown San Jose, just north ofSan Pedro Square.
North San Pedro was a historically industrial part of Downtown San Jose, which was partially blighted during the age ofurban renewal during the 1960s.[1][2] Beginning in the 2000s, theSan José Redevelopment Agency earmarked the area for redevelopment into an urban-transitional residential district for Downtown.[3]
Since the onset of theCalifornia housing crisis, city leaders and non-profits have intensified housing developments in the area, particularly supporting affordable housing and transitional housing in the area.[4][5][6][7][8]
North San Pedro is located inDowntown San Jose, just north ofSan Pedro Square. Its western border is formed by theGuadalupe Freeway (CA-87).
