North Korea women's national softball team is the national team forNorth Korea. The team competed at the 2006ISF Women's World Championship inBeijing, China where they finished thirteenth.[1][2]
In 1990, the women's softball team from North Korea played against South Korea for the first time in theBeijing Asian Games, after North Korea had boycotted theSeoul Olympics and theSeoul Asian Games.[3] When the two team's fans met, they cheered for political reunification.[3]
In 2001, North Korea won only one game and finished fifth among six teams during the Asian qualifying round for the 2002 World Women's Softball Championships.[4] North Korea then brought in a coach from Cuba to train the team, "surprising" World No.2-ranked Japan at the championships with an outstanding performance from pitcher Kim Song who allowed only one run.[4]
