Noosia is a fungalgenus in the divisionAscomycota. The genus ismonotypic, containing the singleanamorphic speciesNoosia banksiae. The fungus is associated with brown leaf spots on thewallum banksia (Banksia aemula), an Australian shrub of the familyProteaceae. Theconidia of the fungus aredimorphic. They are initially spherical, smooth and somewhathyaline; later they become fusoid to ellipsoidal, brown, and covered in small warts. Thegeneric nameNoosia refers to the townNoosa, where thetype collection was made, inNoosa National Park; thespecific epithet refers to the generic name of thehost plant.[1]
