Noah Sewell (born April 26, 2002) is an American Samoan professionalfootballlinebacker for theChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL). A native ofAmerican Samoa, he and his family moved toUtah in 2012 before playingcollege football atOregon, where he was named thePac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2020 before being selected by the Bears in the fifth round of the2023 NFL draft. Sewell is the younger brother of NFL playersPenei andNephi Sewell.
Sewell hails from the village ofMalaeimi inAmerican Samoa. He began playingAmerican football alongside his three brothers as a child after his father Gabriel became a coach of the sport.[1] Seeing the potential for his children to make it to theNational Football League (NFL), Gabriel moved his family toSt. George, Utah in 2012.[1] There, he attendedDesert Hills High School before transferring toOrem High School inOrem, Utah.[2]
During his high school career he had 224 tackles, 8.5 sacks and five interceptions as alinebacker and 2,316 yards and 40 touchdowns as arunning back. He was named the Utah Valley Football Player of the Year as a senior in 2019.[3] A five-star recruit, Sewell committed to theUniversity of Oregon to playcollege football.[4][5] His brother,Penei, was drafted by theDetroit Lions seventh overall in the2021 NFL draft.[6][7] Another brother,Nephi, currently plays for theNew Orleans Saints. A third brother, Gabriel, also plays college football.
Sewell was named thePac-12 Conference Freshman Defensive Player of the Year in 2020.[8][9][10]

Sewell was selected by theChicago Bears in the fifth round (148th overall) in the2023 NFL draft.[13] As a rookie, he appeared in 13 games and finished with nine total tackles and a forced fumble.[14]
