Nitrospirota containsnitrifying taxa which oxidize nitrite to nitrate (nitrite-oxidizing bacteria,NOB [ 8] commamox bacteria:Nitrospira inopinata [ 5] [ 6] Dissulfurispira thermophila Thermodesulfovibrionia ) grows bydisproportionation of thiosulfate or elemental sulfur.[ 9]
