Nitassinan (Innu:ᓂᑕᔅᓯᓇᓐ) is the ancestral homeland of theInnu, anindigenous people of EasternQuebec andLabrador, Canada. Nitassinan means "our land" in theInnu language. The territory covers the eastern portion of theLabrador peninsula.[1]

The area was known asMarkland inGreenlandic Norse, and its inhabitants were known as theSkræling.
