Nirmal Kumar Ganguly (born 1941)[2] is an Indianmicrobiologist specialising intropical diseases,cardiovascular diseases, anddiarrhea.
Ganguly is a graduate ofR. G. Kar Medical College, then affiliated with theUniversity of Calcutta. He did his MD inMicrobiology fromPost Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research where he also served as Acting Director.[3]
Ganguly has been Emeritus Professor ofPost Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and was Director General,Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi (1998-2007). An elected fellow of theNational Academy of Medical Sciences,[4] he is currently President of theJawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.[2]
He was awarded thePadma Bhushan in 2009.[1]
