Nirbhay Singh Gurjar (1957 – 7 November 2005)[2]was an Indian criminal and one of the lastdacoits of the Chambal. He terrorized theChambal ravines in India, the lawless zone at the cusp of two statesUttar Pradesh andMadhya Pradesh for 31 years.[3][4][5]
Gujjar was born in Panchdeora village ofJalaun district,Uttar Pradesh and died on 7 November 2005 inEtawah,India in a police encounter.[6][7]
With this Sarpanch,Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) andMember of Parliament (MP) were elected.[8][9]
According to the Regional Director (North) of theArchaeological Survey of India (ASI), Mr.K. K. Muhammed, Gurjar and his gang provided much help toArchaeological Survey of India for the restoration ofBateshwar Hindu temples, Madhya Pradesh, that were constructed during theGurjara-Pratihara empire between 8th to 11th century.[10]
IndianBollywood film director Krishna Mishra also made a Hindi movie named asBeehad - The Ravine, which starredVikas Shrivastav. A real-life take on Gujjar's life – journeying with him from 1975.[11]
In August 2005 he had expressed his desire to surrender before the Uttar Pradesh Chief MinisterMulayam Singh Yadav and join Indian politics.[12]
