Nintendo Music is amusic streaming service byNintendo that features theirvideo game soundtracks. The service is available forNintendo Switch Online users, asubscription service for theNintendo Switch video game console. Nintendo Music launched forAndroid andiOS on October 31, 2024.

Features

Users can add tracks to both curated and customplaylists. Nintendo Music also allows for extending the playback of some tracks to 15, 30, or 60 minutes.[1] The service provides three type of audio quality: data saving, balanced, and high quality.[2] It also includes a feature that allows users to hide tracks and albums to avoid spoilers.[3] The service is available forNintendo Switch Online users, asubscription service for theNintendo Switch video game console.[4][5]

Nintendo Music was announced on October 31, 2024, and launched the same day.[6][7] The service was released forAndroid andiOS smartphone devices in all 45 markets that officially supported Nintendo Switch Online at launch.[8]

Reception

Kyle Barr ofGizmodo called the application "surprisingly good" but criticized the small selection of music available at launch.[33] Fans, journalists, and developers criticized the app for not crediting the soundtrack composers.[34][35] Abner Li from9to5Google noted many similarities toYouTube Music, specifically in the application'suser interface (UI).[36] Two weeks after launch, Nintendo Music had been downloaded more than one million times.[37]
