Nikolay Vasilyevich Belov (Russian:Никола́й Васи́льевич Бело́в; December 14, 1891 – March 6, 1982) was a Soviet and Russiancrystallographer,geochemist,academician (1953), andHero of Socialist Labour (1969).[1][2]

Belov worked primarily in the fields ofmineralogy (particularlysilicates), determination ofcrystal structures usingX-ray crystallography, and the theory ofsymmetry, specificallydichromatic, andpolychromatic symmetry, a field which Belov founded.[3]
