Nihal Abeysinghe is a Sri Lankanepidemiologist, andsocialist politician who is thegeneral secretary of the rulingNational People's Power (NPP).
Abeysinghe having gained hisMBBS andMSc, became aconsultant epidemiologist and went on to become the deputy director of the Institute for Research & Development. Following his retirement, he joined the NPP as its general secretary.[1][2]
Abeysinghe is contesting the2024 Sri Lankan parliamentary election as a candidate from the NPP from the Kalutara District, along with his sonChathuranga Abeysinghe is contesting from the Colombo District.[3]
