Nick Mardner (born April 18, 1999) is a Canadian professionalfootballwide receiver for theOttawa Redblacks of theCanadian Football League (CFL). He playedcollege football atHawaii,Cincinnati, andAuburn.

Early life

Mardner was born inMississauga, Ontario.[1] He playedhigh school football atClarkson Secondary School in Mississauga & atSt. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Oakville. He was rated one of the top 10 Canadian prospects in the class of 2018 by allCanadaGridiron.com.[1]

College career

Mardner firstcollege football for theHawaii Rainbow Warriors from 2018 to 2021.[1] He played in only one game in 2018 and wasredshirted. He played in 12 games, starting one, in 2019, catching five passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.[1] Mardner appeared in eight games, starting two, during theCOVID-19 shortened 2020 season, recording 11 receptions for 188 yards and one touchdowns. He played in 13 games, starting 10, during the 2021 season, catching 46 catches for913 yards and five touchdowns.[1]

Mardner transferred to play for theCincinnati in 2022.[2] He totaled 19 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns in five games played.[3]

He transferred toAuburn for his sixth, and final, season of college football in 2023.[4][5] He appeared in four games for the Tigers but did not catch any passes.[3]

Professional career

Mardner was selected by theOttawa Redblacks of theCanadian Football League (CFL) with the second overall pick in the2024 CFL draft.[6] He also participated in rookieminicamp on a tryout basis with theNew York Giants in May 2024.[7][8] He officially signed with the Redblacks on May 13, 2024.[9]
