Nicetes (orNicetas)of Smyrna (Ancient Greek:ΝικήτηςorΝικήτας ὁ Σμυρναῖος,Nīkḗtēs orNīkḗtās ho Smurnaîos; AD 1st century) was anAncient Greekrhetorician andphilosopher.

A notedforensic orator, he is considered the instigator of theSecond Sophistic inAsia Minor during the first century. He has been identified withSacerdos ille Nicetes, 'thatpriest Nicetes' who taughtPliny the Younger and to whomTacitus referred in hisDialogus de oratoribusXV, 3.^[en]
