Niccolò Pisilli (born 23 September 2004) is an Italian professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forSerie A clubRoma and theItaly national team.
Pisilli began playing football with a local club Helios, before moving toRoma at the age of eight and working his way up their youth categories.[3][4] In November 2022, he signed a professional contract with the club until 2026.[5]
Having originally been assigned to theirunder-19 team, Pisilli made his professional debut for Roma on 6 May 2023, as a late substitute in a 2–0Serie A home loss againstInter Milan.[6] In April of the same year, he was part of Roma's under-19 squad that won theCoppa Italia Primavera.[7][8]
On 14 December 2023, Pisilli made his debut in a European competition, coming on as a substitute forAndrea Belotti in the 72nd minute of aUEFA Europa Leaguegroup stage match againstSheriff Tiraspol; he went on to score his first professional goal in the injury time of the same game, helping Roma gain a 3–0 victory.[9][10]
On 23 February 2025, Pisilli extended his contract with Roma until June 2029.[11]
Pisilli is a youth international for Italy. In May 2023, he was included by head coachCarmine Nunziata in the Italian squad that took part in theFIFA U-20 World Cup inArgentina,[12] where theAzzurrini finished runners-up after losing toUruguay in the final match.[13][14] The same year in June, Pisilli was included in the Italian squad for theUEFA European Under-19 Championship inMalta,[15] where theAzzurrini eventually won their second continental title.[16][17] On 10 October 2024, Pisilli debuted for theItalian senior squad in a 2–2 draw againstBelgium.[18]
Pisilli is a completemidfielder who can contribute offensively with goals and assists, and also in the defensive phase. A constant presence in Roma's youth sides, he is able to withstand blows on the pitch and has uncommon tactical intelligence that helps him break down plays. His speed of thought helps him with interceptions and recoveries.[4]
