Ni Dahong (Chinese:倪大红; born 18 April 1960) is a Chinese actor best known for his roles asSima Yi in the historical television seriesThree Kingdoms, based on the classical novelRomance of the Three Kingdoms byLuo Guanzhong; and Su Daqiang in family dramaAll Is Well.

Ni was born inHarbin,Heilongjiang in 1960. Ni became asent-down youth inDaqing afterMao Zedong launched theDown to the Countryside Movement.^[1] In 1980, he was accepted to Jixi Drama Troupe (鸡西话剧团) as a student.^[1] In 1986 he graduated fromCentral Academy of Drama and was assigned to National Experimental Theatre (nowNational Theatre Company of China).^[1]

In 1984, Ni made his film debut inXie Jin'sWreaths at the Foot of the Mountain.

In 1991, Ni was cast inI'm A Countryman, making his television debut.

In 1993, he got a small role in Chen Peisi's comedy filmFilial Son And Filial Piety.

In 1994, he co-starred withSong Dandan in the family comedyI Love My Family.^[2] That same year, he appeared as Long Er inZhang Yimou'sTo Live, anepic film adaptation based on the novel ofthe same name byYu Hua.

In 2006, he was cast as imperial physician Jiang inCurse of the Golden Flower, an epic drama film written and directed by Zhang Yimou.^[3]

Ni had a minor role as Sun Maocai inQiao Family Courtyard (2007), which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Award at the 3rd TV Shows and Awards.^[4]

In 2009, Ni had a supporting role in Zhang Yimou'sA Simple Noodle Story.^[5] The same year, he featured inThe Message, adapted fromMai Jia's novel of the same title. The espionage thriller was directed byChen Kuo-fu andGao Qunshu.

Ni co-starred with in the 2010 crime filmWind Blast, directed by Gao Qunshu.^[6] That same year, he starred asSima Yi in the historical television seriesThree Kingdoms, based onLuo Guanzhong's classical novelRomance of the Three Kingdoms. He received positive reviews for the role.^[7][8] He played the lead role of Judge Tian inJudge,^[9] for which he received Best Actor Award nominations at the47th Golden Horse Awards and Asian Film Critics Association Awards.^[10]

In 2012, he starred in a crime thriller filmLethal Hostage.^[11]

In 2014, Ni had key supporting role asWei Zhongxian inThe White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom, awuxia-fantasy 3D film loosely adapted fromLiang Yusheng's novelBaifa Monü Zhuan.^[12]

In 2015, he co-starred withWu Jing andYu Nan in the action filmWolf Warriors.^[13]

In 2016, Ni played the lead role asYan Song in the historical television seriesCounter-Japanese Hero Qi Jiguang.^[14]

In 2019, Ni gained recognition for his role as Su Daqiang in the hit family dramaAll Is Well.^[15]

Ni married Ni Wei (倪炜), who isNi Ping's sister.
