TheNewcastle Brown "900" Open was agolf tournament on theEuropean Tour in 1980. It was held at Northumberland Golf Club inGosforth,Newcastle upon Tyne,England and was part of the celebrations marking Newcastle's 900th anniversary.[1][2]
The tournament was won by Ireland'sDes Smyth, who holed a 45-foot putt on the last green to win the £7,000 first prize. It was his firststroke play win on the European Tour.[3]
