Neferkamin Anu (diedc. 2170 BC) was aking ofancient Egypt during theFirst Intermediate Period (2181–2055 BC). According to theAbydos King List and the latest reconstruction of theTurin canon byKim Ryholt, he was the 13th king of theEighth Dynasty.[3] This opinion is shared by the EgyptologistsJürgen Beckerath, Thomas Schneider, and Darrell Baker.[4][5][6] As a king of the Eighth Dynasty, Neferkamin Anu would have reigned over theMemphite region.

Attestations

[edit]

Neferkamin Anu is mentioned on the entry 52 of the Abydos King list, which was compiled in the earlyRamesside period. The list names his predecessor asNeferkare Pepiseneb and his successor asQakare Ibi. TheTurin canon identifies Nerferkamin Anu with aNefer mentioned on column 4, line 10 of the document, which is in agreement with the Abydos king list.[6][3] Any detail about Neferkamin Anu's reign is lost in alacuna of the Turin canon.

Name

[edit]

The name of Neferkamin Anu is transliterated asNeferkamin Anu even though it is reported asSneferka Anu on the Abydos King list. The reason for this transliteration is that the hieroglyph sign O34, readings, could replace the sign R22 for the godMin and readingMn.[6]
