Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (Dutch pronunciation:[ˈneːdərlɑntsəpyˈblikəˈʔɔmrup]; abbreviated toNPO[ˌɛmpeːˈjoː]; literally "Dutch Public Broadcaster")[2] orDutch Foundation for Public Broadcasting[3] (Dutch:Stichting Nederlandse Publieke Omroep) is a Dutchpublic broadcasting organisation that administerspublic broadcasting services in the Netherlands.[4] NPO is also the owner of the radio-spectrum licence and publicDVB-T andDAB+ frequencies.
According to Article 2.2 of theDutch Media Act of 2008 [nl], NPO has been appointed as the governing organisation of thepublic broadcasting system of the Netherlands until 2020. Two bodies head the organisation: the board of directors, which administers the whole public television and radio broadcasting system, and the supervisory board.[5]
Before the reorganisation in the 2000s, the Dutch public broadcasting system was managed by another public broadcasting organisation, theNederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), which has since become a member of NPO.

NPO is an active member of theEuropean Broadcasting Union,[6] and co-organised theEurovision Song Contest 2021 with member broadcastersAVROTROS andNOS.[7]
In 2013, NPO became the winner of thePrix Europa award for the Best TV Fiction Script by a Newcomer (for the screenplay of the filmThe Deflowering of Eva Van End, written by Anne Barnhoorn in collaboration with NPO).[8]
