Naushabah Parveen Khan[2] (/nəˈʃɑːbəˈkɑːn/nə-SHAH-bəKAHN[3]) is a BritishLabour Party politician who has been theMember of Parliament (MP) forGillingham and Rainham since2024.[4]

Early life

Khan was born at the now defunct All Saints' Hospital inChatham and grew up inGillingham.[5] She attendedFort Pitt Grammar School andSir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School. She graduated with aBachelor of Arts (BA) in History from theUniversity of Birmingham in 2007. She went on to complete a graduate diploma in Law atBPP Law School in 2013.[6]

Political career

Khan unsuccessfully stood as theLabour candidate inRochester and Strood during the2014 by-election and the2015 general election, finishing third on both occasions, with 16.8% and 19.8% of the vote respectively.[7][8] In 2024, she was elected as the MP forGillingham and Rainham, defeating incumbentConservative MPRehman Chishti by 15,562 votes to 11,590, a majority of 9.6%.[9]

In September 2025, Khan was appointed as theparliamentary private secretary to theCabinet Office.[10]
