Nauman Ijaz (Punjabi andUrdu:نُعمان اعجاز) is aPakistani television and film actor, anchorperson, and television presenter. He is the recipient of several accolades, including 10Lux Style Awards, 7Hum Awards and a President'sPride of Performance award, which was presented to him in 2012.

Active since 1988, he has played many roles and has been a senior actor on state TelevisionPTV.[2][3] As of 2017, he was hosting a prime time talk show on Neo News HD with the title ofG Sarkar.[4]

Early life

Ijaz was born and grew up in Icchra town,Lahore to a Punjabi family. His father worked in a movie theatre as a manager. He started his education at Cathedral High School, Lahore. Later he attended theDivisional Public School,Model Town, Lahore. He completed his education atForman Christian College and did Law fromPunjab University, Lahore. He started his acting career with a small appearance in a 1988 drama serial.[4][2]

Career

Ijaz began his acting career onPTV, with a short appearance in the direction ofNusrat Thakur. He then did a TV serial onPTV (Quetta Center). He later appeared in many different roles, including negative roles in the dramasRihaee andUllu Baraye Farokht Nahi. He then appeared in the filmRamchand Pakistani (2008) where he romancedNandita Das.[5] Ijaz hosted a TV comedy show onPTV Home.[4] In 2012, Ijaz received aPride of Performance award from thePresident of Pakistan,Asif Ali Zardari.[1] In 2014, he played a Pakistani cab-driver based inJackson Heights in Mehreen Jabbar's directedJackson Heights.[6] He received unanimous praise for his performance, with a reviewer fromDawn stating, 'He was truly the linchpin, holding the interest level in Jackson Heights even when the pace was flagging."[7] From 2016-17, he appeared in titular role inBhai as Aslam alias Bhai, the troublemaker local councillor from theWalled City of Lahore.[8] In 2017, he played the titular role of ruthless and influential politician in political-dramaKhan.[9] The same year, he played a household molestor in Kashif Nisar's directedDar Si Jaati Hai Sila, for which he received Best TV Actor - Critics' choice at the18th Lux Style Awards.[10]

In 2014, he hosted a TV comedy show calledMazaaq Raat onDunya News.
