TheNational Gallery Act 1856 (19 & 20 Vict. c. 29) of theUnited Kingdom Parliament related to theNational Gallery^[2] andTate gallery^[3] inLondon,England, with respect to the sale of works of art by the trustees.^[4]

^The citation of this act by thisshort title was authorised by theShort Titles Act 1896, section 1 and the first schedule. Due to the repeal of those provisions it is now authorised by section 19(2) of theInterpretation Act 1978.
