Natalie Walter (born 24 December 1979) is a British actress and writer who is best known for her film, television and theatre roles.[1] During her career, Walter has worked with film and theatre directors includingPeter Hall,Gregory Doran,Sam Mendes andChristopher Guest.Still Up, an eight-part comedy drama written and co-created by Walter, premiered onApple TV+ in 2023. Her father wasDavid Walter, the formerBBC andITN journalist.
Walter studied at London'sDrama Centre, and later spent three years performing and touring with theRoyal Shakespeare Company.
Walter is the co-creator, writer and associate producer of Still Up, an eight-part comedy drama made by Various Artists Limited forApple TV+. The series premiered in September 2023 and starsAntonia Thomas,Craig Roberts andBlake Harrison. TV critic Joel Golby, writing inThe Guardian, described Still Up as "superb", "a genuine revelation[2]" and his "scripted TV show of the year".
As an actor, Walter's TV roles include Francine inI May Destroy You, which won three awards at the 2021Baftas, including for best mini-series.[3] In the same year, Walter played Fizzy inStrike. Her other notable television appearances include inThe Thin Blue Line, andHarry Enfield & Chums, theDoctor Who episode "Turn Left". theJonathan Creek special "The Judas Tree",Above Suspicion, andFamily Tree. Since 2015, Walter has been a regular performer onHorrible Histories.
Walter is the co-creator and writer of the 2023 comedyApple TV+ comedyStill Up.[4]

Walter's latest theatre role is playing Sybil Chase in a production ofNoel Coward'sPrivate Lives at theAmbassadors Theatre in London's West End, in which she stars oppositeNigel Havers andPatricia Hodge.[5] Walter has previously worked with the directorSam Mendes at theDonmar Warehouse in a production ofAlan Bennett'sHabeas Corpus, was a member of thePeter Hall Company's production ofAs You Like It and featured in theNational Theatre's revival ofNoises Off.[6] In 2008 to early 2009 she spent a year as a member of theRoyal Shakespeare Company (RSC), with leading roles as Helena inA Midsummer Night's Dream and Maria inLove's Labour's Lost.[7] She also appeared in the hit stage comedy39 Steps, which ran in the West End for a record-breaking nine years.[8] Walter played Heidi Schumann inPeter Nichols's playLingua Franca which premiered in London in July 2010 before transferring to New York later in the year.[9]
