Natalia is a city inMedina County,Texas, United States. The population was 1,202 at the2020 census.[3] It was founded in 1912 and was named after Natalie Pearson Nicholson, daughter ofFrederick Stark Pearson, engineer, designer and builder of theMedina Dam.
Natalia is part of theSan AntonioMetropolitan Statistical Area.
Natalia is located approximately 30 mi (48 km) southwest of Downtown San Antonio in Medina County.
According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.391 square miles (3.60 km2), is land and 0.002 square miles (0.01 km2), is water.[1]
Natalia is located on State Highway 132 and is adjacent toInterstate 35.
The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to theKöppen Climate Classification system, Natalia has ahumid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[5]

As of the2020 census, there were 1,202 people, 416 households, and 298 families residing in the city.[10] There were 499 housing units.
As of the2000 census, there were 1,663 people, 513 households, and 397 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,630.4 inhabitants per square mile (629.5/km2). There were 584 housing units at an average density of 572.5 per square mile (221.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 65.54%White, 1.14%African American, 0.42%Native American, 0.18%Asian, 0.12%Pacific Islander, 29.28% fromother races, and 3.31% from two or more races.Hispanic orLatino of any race were 79.43% of the population.
There were 513 households, out of which 44.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.0% weremarried couples living together, 18.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 19.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.24 and the average family size was 3.73.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 36.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $22,557, and the median income for a family was $25,690. Males had a median income of $19,943 versus $16,484 for females. Theper capita income for the city was $8,583. About 27.2% of families and 33.4% of the population were below thepoverty line, including 42.7% of those under age 18 and 24.6% of those age 65 or over.
