Naratcata was the seat of an ancient episcopal see of theRoman province ofNumidia. The location of the diocese seat andcathedra is not known but presumably was a place calledNaratcatensis and was somewhere in today'sAlgeria.[1]
There are two knownbishops of Naratcata:
The diocese ceased to function with theMuslim conquest of the Maghreb but was re-established in name in 1933.[2] Today Naratcata survives as atitular bishopric and the bishop isJean-Pierre Kwambamba Masi, of Kinshasa, who replacedFernando Bascopé Müller in 2014.
