Nandyal–Yerraguntla section connectsNandyal ofNandyal district and Yerraguntla ofKadapa district in the Indian state ofAndhra Pradesh.[1][2] Further, this section converges withNallapadu–Nandyal section at Nandyal. It is administered underGuntakal railway division ofSouth Central Railway zone, except the Nandyal railway station which is underGuntur railway division.[3][4] The total length of the section extends to a length of 123 km (76 mi).[5]Banaganapalle,Koilakuntla,Jammalamadugu andProddatur are the major towns through which the line passes.[2]

History

The railway section was sanctioned in the year 1996–97.[1] It was commissioned on 23 August 2016 and total project was completed at a cost of9,670 million (US$110 million).[5]
