Nancy A. Dunkel (born 1955) is an American politician. Dunkel was born in 1955 inManchester, Iowa. She was raised inEarlville and attendedLoras College. Dunkel later moved toDyersville, where she worked as a banker and in retirement, led the Dyersville Area Community Foundation.[1] In 2011, Dunkel was elected to theIowa Women's Hall of Fame.[2]
Politically, Dunkel is affiliated with theDemocratic Party. She ran unopposed for the open seat inDistrict 57 of theIowa House of Representatives in 2012,[3] as the incumbent officeholderJack Drake was redistricted. Dunkel defeatedRepublican candidate Ryan Kilburg andLibertarian candidate David Snowden Overby in 2014.[4][5] After stepping down from the state legislature, Dunkel accepted a gubernatorial appointment to serve on theIowa Board of Regents in 2017.[6][7] TheIowa Senate voted unanimously to approve Dunkel's appointment.[8]
