TheNanaimo Islanders were ajunior ice hockey team based inNanaimo,British Columbia that played one season in theWestern Hockey League in 1982–83. They played atFrank Crane Arena. The team relocated toNew Westminster,British Columbia before settling inKennewick, Washington as theTri-City Americans. The franchise was an original WCHL team, forming in1966 as theCalgary Buffaloes, later theCentennials. It moved to Nanaimo in 1982 after spending five years as theBillings Bighorns.
