Nan'an (Chinese:南安;pinyin:Nán'ān;Pe̍h-ōe-jī:Lâm-oaⁿ;lit. 'southern peace') is acounty-level city ofsouthernFujian Province, People's Republic of China. It is under the administration ofQuanzhou City and as of 2023, had a total population of 1,663,542.[1][2] More than 4,000,000overseas Chinese trace their ancestry to Nan'an.[1]
Inhabited since theNeolithic Era, the first incarnation of Nan'an was established as acommandery in the early 500s by the division of Jin'an County underEmperor Wu of Liang. It was under the jurisdiction of theQingyuan Circuit during theFive Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, and was incorporated into Quanzhou Prefecture (泉州府) during theQing dynasty, when it was considered one of the Three Wu Kingdoms alongsideJinjiang andHui'an.
Following the establishment of theRepublic of China, Nan'an was a part of Jinjiang Prefecture until its incorporation intoQuanzhou City in 1986; it was the site of military engagements during theChinese Communist Revolution. Nan'an was established as acounty-level city in its own right in 1993.
Nan'an experiencessubtropical monsoonal humid climate. It has an average temperature of 20.9 °C (69.6 °F).
The city covers an area of 2,036 square kilometres (786 sq mi).
Nan'an is situated belowAnxi County, adjacent toJinjiang City to the east andTong'an District ofXiamen to the West. Nan'an is 97 kilometres (60 mi) from Xiamen. It is 30 kilometres (19 mi) from downtown of Quanzhou and 220 kilometres (140 mi) from the provincial capital, Fuzhou.

The city is divided into 3 subdistricts, 21 towns, and 2 townships.[7][8] The city also contains an economic development zone.[7]
Nan'an is fast developing into an economic and industrial hub for Quanzhou prefecture. Its close proximity to regional economic centres such as Xiamen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen makes it an important investment location for foreign investments and Taiwan businessmen.
Nan'an has very strong rail infrastructure and road links making it a gateway for tourism as well as commerce.[citation needed]
Nan'an is closely connected to the history of overseas Chinese, having been a hub of theMaritime Silk Road and a longtime economic and cultural centre for theMinnan people, with over 4 million overseas Chinese tracing their ancestry to the area[9][10]Nanguan music has its origins in the area in and surrounding Nan'an. It is known as the location ofAnping Bridge, a stonebeam bridge dating back to theSong dynasty, as well as the burial place ofMing general Zheng Chenggong (better known internationally asKoxinga.)
The local language of Nan'an is a variety ofHokkien, part of theQuanzhou family of Hokkien dialects. The surnameHong (洪;Ang in Hokkien andTeochew romanizations) has one of its origins in Nan'an.
The Shishan campus ofQuanzhou Normal University is located in Nan'an. Schools located in Nan'an include Nan'an Experimental Middle School.

85 大佰屿 福建省 泉州市 南安市 24°34′N,118°27′E 0.0599 为大陆岛,由变质岩组成,表层为黄土砂质,植被发育,以木麻黄为主。海岸为基岩岸滩,间有沙质岸、人工石砌护岸。西南部多暗礁,为航行危险区域。 岛上有淡水井。岛上曾开发旅游项目,西北部建有大百屿酒店、郑成功涌泉井碑、小庙以及斜坡码头发电机房、蓄水池、排污管等配套建筑,现已大部分荒废,周围多处搭建有简陋的棚屋,岸边废弃物堆积未清理。山脚下建有未完工的红砖楼,现有部分管理人员在岛上居住。 旅游娱乐用岛 又名"大百屿"
