Namira Nahouza (born July 1979)[1] is a French author,academic researcher,university lecturer, teacher ofArabic andreligious studies, andresearch fellow atCambridge Muslim College, whose research focusses on contemporarySalafi-Wahhabi theories ofQur'anic andHadith interpretation. She is probably best known for her bookWahhabism and the Rise of the New Salafists: Theology, Power and Sunni Islam, which was originally aPhDthesis submitted to theUniversity of Exeter in 2009.[2][3][4][5]

Biography

She was born inMarseille in July 1979. She graduated from theInstitute of Political Studies of Rennes (France) and theUniversity of Exeter (United Kingdom). Holder of amaster's degree inArabic (University of Rennes andINALCO) in 2004. She completed herPhD in Arab andIslamic Studies at the University of Exeter and has anMA inEuropean Studies. During her university studies, Namira completed several internships: at the French Embassy inCairo, at the Permanent Representation of theComoros to theUnited Nations inNew York andFrance in 2001.[3][4]
