Nam Sách is arural district ofHải Dương province in theRed River Delta region ofVietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 139,184.[1] The district covers an area of 133 km2. The district capital lies atNam Sách.[1]

History

The area Nam Sách (南策) is the source of many pottery artifacts.[2] In 1592, when what is todayHải Dương province was underMạc dynasty control, Nam Sách along withKim Thành,Thanh Hà, andKinh Môn districts were the target of attack by 300 fighting boats of theLê dynasty.[3]
