Nalakath Soopy (born 15 August 1946) is a prominent leader ofIndian Union Muslim League (IUML) and formerMinister ofKerala.[1]
Nalakath Soopy is anLLB degree holder and came to active politics through theMuslim Students Federation. Soopy held high position in the party.[clarification needed] He was elected to theKerala Legislative Assembly for thePerinthalmanna Constituency in 1980 for the first time, and reelected to theAssembly in allGeneral Elections until 2001. He served as the Minister for Education[2] from 2001 to 2004 in theA.K. Antony Ministry.
