Naeem Gul (Urdu:نعیم گل) is a Pakistani formerfootballer who played as adefender. He was one of the best defenders to play forPakistan in the 1980s.[1][2][3]
Gul represented Hazara Zamindar, before joiningPakistan Airlines winning theNational Football Championship several times.[4]
Gul was part of thePakistan Reds team at the1976 Quaid-e-Azam International Tournament.[5]
Gul received his first call-up for thePakistan national team during the1981 King's Cup inThailand. The next year, he was selected vice captain at the1982 Quaid-e-Azam International Tournament in Karachi, which included national teams fromBangladesh,Iran,Nepal, andOman. He was a starter in all matches forPakistan.[5] He later captained the national team at the1982 Bangladesh President's Gold Cup.[6] He last represented the national team at the1984 Merdeka Tournament.[7][8]
After retirement, He served as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assistant Director of Youth Affairs.[9]
Pakistan football team, with Naeem Gul as skipper, participated in the second Bangladesh President's Gold Cup Tournament at Dhaka in August 1982.
