NGC 87 is a diffuse, highly disorganized barredirregular galaxy, part ofRobert's Quartet, a group of fourinteracting galaxies.
Onesupernova has been observed in NGC 87: SN 1994Z (type II, mag. 14.6) was discovered Alexander Wassilieff on 2 October 1994.[2][3]
