NGC 740 is abarred spiral galaxy located in theTriangulum constellation. It is estimated to be 210 millionlight-years from theMilky Way and has adiameter of about 85,000 light-years. It was discovered by the Irish engineerBindon Stoney, an assistant toWilliam Parsons.[5][6][7]
