NGC 625 is adwarfbarred spiral galaxy about12.7Mly away in theconstellationPhoenix. It was discovered on 2 September 1826 byScottish astronomerJames Dunlop.[3] NGC 625 is a member of theSculptor Group.[4]
NGC 625 has anactive galactic nucleus, i.e. a compact region at the center that emits a significant amount of energy across the electromagnetic spectrum, with characteristics indicating that this luminosity is not produced by the stars.[5]
