NGC 4098 is aninteracting[2] pair ofspiral galaxies[2][3] located 330 millionlight-years away[3] in theconstellationComa Berenices.[4] NGC 4098 was discovered by astronomerWilliam Herschel on April 26, 1785. It was then rediscovered byHershel on December 27, 1786 was listed as NGC 4099.[5] NGC 4098 is a member of theNGC 4065 Group.[6][7][8][9][10]

NGC 4098 is interacting with the galaxy pairVV 62.[2]

A candidatesupernova of an unknown type, which was designated as SNhunt287 (PSN J12060084+2036183), was discovered in NGC 4098 on April 25, 2015.[11][12][13]
