NGC 1293 is anelliptical galaxy[2] located about 215 millionlight-years away[3] in the constellationPerseus.[4] It was discovered by astronomerWilliam Herschel on October 17, 1786.[5] NGC 1293 is a member of thePerseus Cluster.[6][5]
