The NBA G League International Challenge was an international professionalbasketball tournament featuringall-star selections of theNBA G League. Its purpose is to allow players from theNational Basketball Association (NBA)'s development league to play games againstclubs, league all-star selections, andnational teams from around the world.[1][2][3]
The games themselves are played underFIBA rules, which differ slightly from the NBA's rules. Thebasketball court's markings and dimensions alsoslightly differ.
The first NBA G League International Challenge was the 2018 edition. It featured an all-star selection of NBA G League players[4] coached byJeff Van Gundy, that made upTeam USA's2019 FIBA World Cup Americas qualifiers team at the time,[5] versus the senior men'sMexican national basketball team. Team USA won the game, by a score of 88–67.[6] The 2019 edition of the tournament expanded the format to 6 teams,[7] and was won by the GermanEuroLeague clubBayern Munich.[8][9]
There has been no challenge since 2020.
