Kanthar Nallathamby Srikantha is aSri Lankan Tamil lawyer, politician and former Member of Parliament.[1]

Career

Srikantha is anattorney-at-law.[2][3] He is a member ofTamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) and entered politics in the mid 1980s.[4]

Srikantha was one of theENDLF/EPRLF/TELO/TULF alliance's candidates inJaffna District at the1989 parliamentary election but failed to get elected after coming eighth amongst the alliance candidates.[5][6]

On 20 October 2001 theAll Ceylon Tamil Congress,Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front, TELO andTamil United Liberation Front formed theTamil National Alliance (TNA).[7][8] Srikantha was one of the TNA's candidates inTrincomalee District at the2001 parliamentary election but failed to get re-elected.[9][10] He was one of the TNA's candidates in Jaffna District at the2004 parliamentary election but again failed to get re-elected, coming ninth amongst the TNA candidates.[11] However, he enteredParliament in 2006 following the assassination ofNadarajah Raviraj on 10 November 2006.[12]

In 2010 Srikantha left TELO and TNA. He subsequently formed theTamil National Liberation Alliance (TNLA) with other dissident members of the TNA.[13] Srikantha was one of theLLF/TNLA alliance's candidates in Jaffna District at the2010 parliamentary election but the alliance failed to win any seats in Parliament.[14][15] In June 2011 TNLA was dissolved and Srikantha rejoined TELO and TNA.[16]

Srikantha contested the2015 parliamentary election as one of the TNA's candidates in Jaffna District but failed get re-elected.[17][18][19]
