Navaratnasingam Ratnavarothiam Rajavarothiam (8 October 1908 – 27 August 1963), commonly known asN. R. Rajavarothiam, was aCeylon Tamil politician andMember of Parliament.
Rajavarothiam was the son of Navaratnasingam, fromTrincomalee in easternBritish Ceylon. He was educated atSt. Joseph's College, Trincomalee andAnanda College,Colombo. He later enteredCeylon University College. He was the chief trustee of Muttucumarswamy Temple.
Rajavarothiam married Sivayohanayaki. They had two sons.
Rajavarothiam joined theIllankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (Federal Party) and became an active member of the party. He became vice president of the party. He was ITAK's candidate forTrincomalee at the1952 parliamentary election. He won the election and enteredParliament,[1] where he was one of only two ITAK MPs. He was re-elected at the1956,March 1960 andJuly 1960 parliamentary elections.[2][3][4]
