TheMunicipality of Litija (pronounced[liˈtiːja]ⓘ;Slovene:Občina Litija) is amunicipality in centralSlovenia. The seat of the municipality is the town ofLitija. The area is part of the traditionalUpper andLower Carniola regions. The entire municipality is now included in theCentral Sava Statistical Region; until 2015 it was part of theCentral Slovenia Statistical Region.[2] The population of the municipality is just over 15,000.[3]
The municipal coat of arms shows thesitula vase fromKlenik (theVače situla), theSava River, and a boatman pushing his boat, known as apunt, across the Sava.[4][5]
