Muhajreen (Arabic:المهاجرين,romanized: al-Muhajreen) is amunicipality and a neighborhood in the central part ofDamascus,Syria,[2] on the slopes ofMount Qasioun. The name means 'the immigrants'. It containsAbu Rummaneh, Al-Haboubi, Al-Maliki, Al-Marabit, Al-Mastaba, Al-Rawda and Shura.[2]
The village was first settled byCretan Muslim immigrants in the late 19th century after they fledCrete, and was initially a suburb on the mountain.[3]
The neighbourhood houses theMuhajreen Palace, the palace of the first president of Syria, which later became astate guest house of the Syrian government.
