Moustapha Name (born 5 May 1995) is a Senegalese professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forLiga I clubCFR Cluj, on loan fromCypriot First Division clubPafos.

Club career

AS Douanes

Moustapha Name started his career atAS Douanes in his native Senegal in 2016. During the 2017–18 season, he scored ten goals in theSenegal Premier League.

Pau

In 2018, Name joinedPau and adapted quickly to French football in theBéarnese capital. In his second season, he occasionally captained the team.[citation needed]

In the2019–20 Coupe de France, Pau reached theround of 16 and lost to aParis Saint-Germain (PSG) side that went on to winthe entire competition.[citation needed] The 2019–20 season was very successful for both Name and Pau; Pau achieved promoted toLigue 2, and Name's displays againstLigue 1 heavyweightsBordeaux and PSG in the Coupe de France helped him make a name for himself.[citation needed]

Paris FC

On 27 June 2020, Name signed withParis FC after successful seasons with Pau in theChampionnat National.[2] He made his professional debut withParis FC in a 3–0 Ligue 2 win overChambly on 22 August 2020.[3]

International career

Name debuted with theSenegal national team in a 2–02021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win overGuinea Bissau on 11 November 2020.[4]

He was part ofSenegal's squad for the2021 Africa Cup of Nations; the Lions of Teranga went on to win the tournament for the first time in their history.[5][6]

Name was appointed aGrand Officer of the National Order of the Lion byPresident of SenegalMacky Sall following the nation's victory at the tournament.[7]
