Moschiola, thespotted chevrotains, are a genus of smalleven-toed ungulates in the familyTragulidae. They are found in forests inIndia,Sri Lanka and perhapsNepal, and have pale-spotted or -striped upperparts unlike the other Asian members of the family, the mouse-deer of the genusTragulus.[1]
In former times, the genus was usually treated asmonotypic. Described asMoschus meminna, for most of the time the nameTragulus meminna was used, but changed toMoschiola meminna eventually. In the 21st century, this is increasingly divided into up to threeparapatricspecies:[2]
