Boundaries

[edit]

The current riding was created in 2003 asCharlevoix—Montmorency from parts ofBeauport—Montmorency—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île-d'Orléans,Charlesbourg—Jacques-Cartier andCharlevoix ridings. Its name was changed toMontmorency—Charlevoix—Haute-Côte-Nord after the 2004 election.

Following theCanadian federal electoral redistribution, 2012, the riding was renamedBeauport—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île d'Orléans—Charlevoix from Montmorency—Charlevoix—Haute-Côte-Nord,[4] with the eastern part of the riding becoming a part of the neighbouring riding ofManicouagan.

Following the2022 Canadian federal electoral redistribution, the riding was largely be replaced byMontmorency—Charlevoix. It lost theChutes-Montmorency area toBeauport—Limoilou, gained the territory east of Ch. de Château-Bigot and Av. du Bourg-Royal and north of Boul. Louis-XIV fromCharlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles, and gained the municipalities ofLac-Beauport andSainte-Brigitte-de-Laval fromPortneuf—Jacques-Cartier.

The riding of Charlevoix—Montmorency also existed from 1914 to 1924. It was created from parts ofCharlevoix,Chicoutimi—Saguenay andMontmorency ridings. It initially consisted of the parishes of St. Tite, St. Féréol, St. Joachim, Château Richer, Ste. Anne and the village of Ste. Anne.

The electoral district was abolished in 1924 when it was redistributed intoCharlevoix—Saguenay andQuebec—Montmorency ridings. Its only Member of Parliament wasPierre-François Casgrain of theLiberal Party of Canada. The renamed Beauport—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île d'Orléans—Charlevoix riding lost territory toManicouagan andBeauport—Limoilou, and gained territory from Beauport—Limoilou during the2012 electoral redistribution.
