Monica Mayhem (born 14 March 1978) is an Australian former pornographic actress,dancer[2] and singer.
Mayhem was born inBrisbane, Queensland, Australia and she is half Australian and half Welsh.[1] She attendedKenmore State High School but was expelled.[3] Prior to working in porn, she worked infinancial markets andfutures trading in Sydney.[1] She then moved to London and worked in anInternational Petroleum Exchange brokerage.[1]
Mayhem began her career in the adult entertainment industry as a dancer at theSpearmint Rhino onTottenham Court Road.[1] In December 2000, she moved to the United States (allegedly on a dare) to begin acting in pornographic films.[citation needed] Her first scene was with Lee Stone inReal Sex Magazine 38.[4] In 2002, she won theXRCO Award for Starlet of the Year[2][5] and theFOXE Award for "Vixen of the Year".[6]
Outside pornographic films, Mayhem was a singer/guitarist in the all-girl metal band "Sweet Avenge".[2]
In 2008, she appeared in a small role in theSex and the City film, in which she is seen through a window having sex with Samantha's neighbour Dante.
Mayhem wrote an autobiography titledAbsolute Mayhem: Confessions of an Aussie Porn Star,[2][7] which was released byRandom House Australia in 2009 in her native Australia and bySkyhorse Publishing in North America the following year.[8][9] A French translation was published in 2011 by Camion Noir.[citation needed]
In August 2010, she announced that she had retired from pornographic acting, after over 400 films,[10] and that she was engaged to aSydney veterinarian.[11]
